About Wander Melbournians

A free AI travel planner built for Melbournians who love to explore Victoria.

What is Wander Melbournians?

Wander Melbournians is a free, AI-powered weekend travel planning tool designed specifically for people living in Melbourne, Victoria. Instead of spending hours researching destinations, reading dozens of travel blogs, and piecing together an itinerary yourself, Wander Melbournians does it all in seconds.

Tell us a little about your trip — where you want to go, how far you're willing to drive, your budget, and what you love doing — and our AI generates a complete, personalised 2-day itinerary or 1-day day trip, tailored to your style. Every recommendation is a real place: real cafés, real trails, real accommodation, real restaurants.

Whether you're planning a romantic escape to Daylesford, a family adventure to Phillip Island, a solo hike through Wilsons Promontory, or a foodie weekend on the Mornington Peninsula — Wander Melbournians has you covered.

How does it work?

1
Choose your preferences

Select your trip vibe (romantic, family, solo, friends, or pet-friendly), how far you want to drive from Melbourne, your budget, travel pace, and interests.

AI builds your itinerary

Our AI — powered by Claude by Anthropic — draws on deep knowledge of Victoria's destinations to build a personalised 2-day or 1-day itinerary with real café names, real trails, real accommodation and dining recommendations.

3
Check the weekend forecast

Each itinerary includes a live weather forecast for the upcoming weekend at your destination, so you can plan activities around the conditions.

4
Plan your logistics

Every result page includes accommodation booking links, car rental options, and public transport information to help you get there and stay comfortably.

5
Save, share or print

Download your itinerary as a PDF, share a link with your travel companions, or send it via WhatsApp and email — all for free.

Why we built this

Planning a weekend getaway from Melbourne shouldn't take half your week. Between choosing a destination, finding accommodation, researching what to do, and figuring out where to eat — the planning can become more exhausting than the trip itself.

We built Wander Melbournians for the Melbournians who love getting out of the city but don't always have the time to plan. Whether you're looking for a last-minute long weekend idea or planning months ahead, we want to make it easy to say "let's go" without the hours of research.

Victoria is one of the most diverse states in Australia for weekend travel — from surf beaches to alpine peaks, ancient volcanic plains to lush rainforests, world-class wine regions to quirky goldfields towns. We want every Melbournian to explore more of it.

Our commitment to accuracy

We use AI to generate itineraries, which means the content is dynamic and personalised — but it also means it can occasionally be outdated or inaccurate. Businesses close, trails change, and prices move. We always recommend independently verifying key details before booking or travelling.

Weather forecasts are sourced from Open-Meteo, an open-source weather API. Drive times are approximate. All accommodation suggestions are sourced via affiliate links (Booking.com and Hotels.com) — we may earn a small commission if you book through those links, at no extra cost to you.
